State Disability Insurance Also known as IDE, is a partial salary for workers. This is the mandate by the state and is funded by payroll deductions from the employee. SDI provides short-term benefits that are affordable to eligible workers who are experiencing a loss of wages because they can not work. Their reasons for not being able to work may be non-work related illness or are injured. They may also be pregnant or have just given birth. Employees are covered by State disability insurance. But there are some employees who are exempt from these. Examples include railroad employees. In fact, the lack of employees of nonprofit agencies, seek religious exemptions.
